Acting is a profession where you have to perfect your character by changing your appearance and looks. Sometimes you have to gain or reduce weight to look like the character. The perfect examples of Marathi films are Natrang and Vazandar, where Actor Atul Kulkarni and Actress Priya Bapat gained and reduced weight for their character's transformations. Similarly, Subodh Bhave and Sonalee Kulkarni had to gain weight for next Friday release, Tula Kalnnaar Nahi. Let's Understand Why?
Subodh and Sonalee portray the characters of Rahul and Anjali Mankame in the film Tula Kalnnaar Nahi. They are working together for the first time. The couple is married for 5-6 years and by the logic of every real couple they must be a little bulky. Director Swapna Waghmare Joshi always had the looks of these characters in her mind and that's why she told both Subodh and Sonlaee to gain weight. Both were initially hesitant but to portray the couple realistically they decided to gain weight.
Sonalee even cut her hair to look like the character of Anjali. Their gained weight can be clearly seen in the trailer of Tula Kalnnaar Nahi. Sonalee's changes are clearly seen as she had always portrayed character who look well maintained. Her blunt cut hair also strikes well with the character. Both Subodh and Sonalee ensured that they reduce their weight and come to their normal self after the shoot was wrapped.
Hats off to Subodh and Sonalee for their dedication.
Tula Kalnnaar Nahi portrays the story of a married couple and it is going to be a delight to watch for all the married and to be couples. Tula Kalnnaar Nahi releases next Friday on 8th September all over Maharashtra.
