Suvrat Joshi, an actor who carved out a niche for himself through popular Marathi TV serial 'Dil Dosti Duniyadari' will be seen in a lead role in forthcoming Marathi film Shikari. Presented by popular and multi-talented Mahesh Waman Manjarekar and directed by yet renowned director Viju Mane, the film has created kind of ripples among cinegoers due to it bold posters and teasers released recently.
While posters of the film had challenged the conservative sensibilities of the movie buffs, its Teaser released this week has further heightened curiosity among the Marathi film fraternity. Mahesh Manjrekar is known for presenting films with different story angles and out of box thinking. No wonder then that the Marathi movie patrons are wondering if Shikari is a Laugh Riot, a Sex Comedy or a Serious Social Drama. Suvrat is playing a lead role in the film along with other talented actors Kashmira Shah, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Bahu Kadam, Vaibhav Mangale, Prasad Oak, Siddharth Jadhav among others.
Passed out of the prestigious National School of Drama (NSD), Suvrat has acted in many TV serials and one act plays. Hailing originally from Pune, Suvrat served as a teacher for about a year in a private school. But his passion for acting took him to NSD, which shaped a born actor in him. Opportunities did knock on his door but it was not before he got his full training in the National School of Drama in Delhi. From this prestigious institute, Suvrat learnt the nuances of acting before he plunged into Marathi theatre. Suvrat acted in many acclaimed plays in Marathi. Few of his well known plays are Knot in Focus, Binkaamache Sanvad, Dreams of Taleem and Amar Photo Studio.
Suvrat’s most popular character came when he played the role of Sujay Sathe in the serial Dil Dosti Duniyadaari on Zee Marathi.
“Shikari” is produced by Vijay Patil of Aryan Global Entertainment and with‘ Anand Vaidyanathan as the co-producer. Shikari will be released in theatres on 20th April.
