Drought situation in Maharashtra is worsening day by day. Forthcoming Marathi movie Nivdung throws light on one such issue related to farmer’s suicides. It questions as to why the help given to deceased farmer’s family cannot be made available to him, when he is alive. Produced and directed by Munavar Shamim Bhagat, this is his debut movie in Marathi, after producing few movies in Hindi.

Subodh Bhave is in constant news these days. Apart from working non-stop, he is juggling his career between hosting Stage/Awards Shows, TV Host and acting in movies. Subodh known for his serious performances in movies such as 'Balgandharva' and 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusli', is set to venture into a different territory. The movie 35% Katthavar Pass dedicated to the hopeless back benchers, who never score good percentage on the school exams. The movie shows the 3 backbencher friends Sairaj, Aarti and Tanish Kumar who have scored less than 40% in SSC exam. The makers released the official poster recently.

Upcoming Marathi movie Made in Maharashtra produced by Ranjit Yadav, is directed by Nitesh Pawar. One the occasion of Maharashtra day, the makers announced the release date as 27 May 2016. It will clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions Laal Ishq.

Tapaal’s debut director Laxman Utekar is now ready with his next Marathi movie Lalbaugchi Rani. Laxman is a renowned cinematographer in Bollywood for last 16 years. He will be co-producing Lalbaugchi Rani along with his directorial responsibilities. Recently the official trailer of Lalbaugchi Rani was launched in Mumbai, where Laxman announced the release date as 3 June 2016.

53rd Maharashtra State Film Awards 2016 were announced on Saturday, on the birth anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalake, in a show at Borivali, Mumbai. Makarand Mane directed Ringan won the 1st place for the Best Film. 2nd place Best Film won by Double Seat, whereas Daagdi Chaawl won 3rd place Best Film Award.
