Divyaj Foundation’s Fashion show in collaboration with Maharashtra State Women Commission in Mumbai on Sunday turned out to be a memorable one for all victors, dignities & guests. Bollywood celebrities Juhi Chawla, Sonali Bendre, Annu Kapoor, Sakshi Tanwar and Vivek Oberoi mesmerized the audience with their walk with Acid attack victors at The National Sports Club of India, NSCI Dome, Worli.
The event was organized by Divyaj Foundation with the sense of responsibility to include the victors in our mainstream society, to empower them by way of Love, Care, Treatment, Rehabilitation and restoration as members of society in association with Maharashtra State Women Commission.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was present at the event as a Chief Guest. Highlighting the importance to donate for a cause like these, He said, “Its pleasure being here & good to know the initiative. He further announced that, The STATE govt. has increased the compensation amount for Acid Attack Victims from Rs. 3 Lakh to Rs. 5 Lakh.”
The highlight of the two hour event was the ‘Confidence Walk’ wherein, these victors walked on stage along with leading personalities and celebrities of the society. In addition to the celebrities Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai Ajoy Mehta, Datta Padsalgikar – Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson Maharashtra State Women Commission and Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde walked the ramp with victors.
The event backed by Divyaj Foundation presided by Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis. She has led this initiative, also launched a Music Video titled ‘Alag Mera Yeh Rang Hai’ to which she has lent her voice as well. While talking about this initiative she said, “It is disheartening to see that a part of society still believes in this supersession. The victims go through a journey which makes them strong & we too should support them to be stronger. I request policy makers to make laws more stringent.”
Amruta Fadnavis' daughter walked the ramp with the youngest victor, who is just 7 year old.
Funds raised by the show will be donated to the Acid Attack Survivors for their immediate requirements as well as the foundation will also help to facilitate the financial stability of the victors by procuring jobs and medical assistance.
The event was attended by approx 800 special invitees from leading corporate houses and hospitals along with the eminent personalities of Mumbai.

Divyaj Foundation is a team of professionals from diverse background. The trustees include Mr. Sampath Iyer, a retired banker with over 30 years of experience at senior levels, Mrs. Pallavi Shrivastava, a Management Graduate and an ex-banker, Mr. Kumar Meshram a social worker from Nagpur and Mr. Uday Dhable an advocate from Nagpur. The advisors for the trust are Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis and Advocate Sunil Manohar. The core team of volunteers are Mrs. Rajalakshmi Iyer, Dr. Mickey Mehta and Mr. Kavin Shah.
The first project of Divyaj Foundation was aWellness Program for the safai kamgars employed by MCGM. The program included a medical camp followed by 2 day engagement on health and fitness, meditation, disease prevention, personality development, de-addiction and personal financial discipline. This program was a huge success with MCGM requesting the foundation to cover the entire spectrum of safai kamgars exceeding 28000. A huge task but Divyaj Foundation is very excited and geared to engage this segment.
Divyaj Foundation recently launched a two day wellness programme for the employees of Filmcity, Goregaon, Mumbai. The program included two days complete engrossment in health and wellness, diet and nutrition, yoga tips, food adulteration, meditation, anger management and personal financial discipline. This program was an achievement in itself with the participants requesting the foundation to have such programmes in an on-going manner.
Divyaj Foundation is on the verge of launching “Maza Ghar Swatch Ghar” for the 28 000 safai kamgars of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai to promote cleanliness.The Foundation also intends to initiate a project for Municipal Schools across Mumbai - focussing on various areas that would bring about improvement in the quality of education. The Foundation has other such ventures in pipeline.
